Question by skyhigh: How good of a choice is the 2011/2012 dodge ram 1500 slt as a pick up truck option?
Are they spacious, reliable, have good handling, power, and comfortable. I know they have a 4.7 v8 engine, so are they average on gas. Also what are the pros and cons? Any other pickups who compete to its standards. Thanks

im a mechanic myself and have not seen really any trouble from dodge as long as they are properly maintained ( oil change every 3k etc…) now the options you want will depend on how big your pocket book is a decent full size crew cab can be 25-30k and also it will depend on what you need the truck to do if you dont pull anything yea this truck should be fine the new ones do have more room also look at the mega cabs they have the most room but the bigger your cab is the shorter your bed will be. now if you do some heavy/ long distance towing id recommend a 3/4 ton or full ton. i have no complaints about dodge any truck of course wont get that good gas milage. as far as handling and power dodge does fairly well if you go with the hemi. id just go to the dealer look at some trucks in your price range and figure out which one best suits your needs. also check dealer websites and look for incentives as this can help you get a good deal. i hate chevy so the only other truck that would compare is the ford f150. they have a new ecoboost which is a twin turbo v6 that puts out more hp than the 5.0v8 and is better on gas. is your looking for mpg’s in a truck a ford ecoboost might be for you
